MORE ABOUT DAVID: past and future.
20th July 2011:
If you started off on my ‘main page’ you’ll know that my sound suite at Pinewood, Postfade Sound has now closed.
The wonderful Fairlight Constellation shown below has just gone off to be installed in Option Media in Belgium.
I’m sure that Koen and his guys will look after it as once you’ve worked on a Fairlight like that you get very attached to it.
Anyway here’s the quick summary of my career so far that was what this page was about!
I’m David Taylor and I ran Postfade Sound.
I started in TV many moons ago at Anglia TV and moved via Thames to London Weekend, where I became a Senior Sound Supervisor. I was Head-of-Sound at facilities company Barcud in Wales and then at Limehouse Studios.
Limehouse was the first large independant studios, set up to service mainly Channel 4. That was before the ITV and then BBC studios decided to ‘go commercial’, so we showed them the way to properly look after the clients. I mixed many shows from comedy and sit-coms to operas…great days!
I also looked after the move of the sound and OB depts from Canary Wharf to Wembley Studios, which is now Fountain TV.
After a long spell freelancing I set up my own sound post-production business at the video company Ace Editing in NW London in 1996 and I’ve was at Pinewood for about 6 years.

Where to now then?
Well I’m sure I’ll do some freelancing….there are some good clients I want to keep working with.
Also I got hooked on ‘the moving image’ a few years ago…by that I mean video. So I will be out trying to come up with some ‘good images’ in the two fields that interest me most, landscape and aviation.
The aviation interest already has a website……www.flyingfilm.co.uk
The landscape work is currently mainly producing video and timelapses for ‘stock libraries’. I’ll probably start a website for that in the near future as well.
