In a 'previous life' I was a Sound Supervisor at London Weekend and Head-of-Sound at Limehouse TV (now Fountain TV).

I moved into full time post production mixing about 12 years ago.

I've done TV and film sound work across every type of production, from major comedy shows like Harry Enfield, Mr Bean and Shooting Stars, documentaries and features like Dispatches and Inside Story to simple inserts for daytime TV.

Modern equipment can allow alterations 'right up to transmission', but you need to be able to make changes and additions to the mix fast when the journalists on a programme like this keep responding to the weekend newspapers!

	WILDLIFE PROGRAMMES We undertake full tracklaying of FX and all of the extensive foley for numerous wildlife programmes, in both 5.1 Surround and stereo.   Most of these programmes have minimal original sound, so it's a pretty major task. Audio stems for foreign and domestic broadcasters are supplied on DA88 audio tapes, or just a wav files.

SCRAPHEAP CHALLENGE

RDF for Channel 4

I've just finished my third series of 'Scrapheap Challenge', Channel 4's long running entertainment series.

This and other RDF programmes are post produced in association with OutPost Facilities. This year we had a completely tapeless workflow, with pictures from Sony XDCam and location audio on Firewire drives.

A more complex production for audio than might be expected as the programme requires 15 separate mics to be recorded continuously for 2 10 hour days. As you can't rely on the picture editors to access the best sound, you must have it all available and traceable!

The South Bank Show

Landseer for ITV

A South Bank Show, an extended 'international version' and a complimentary concert performance film 'Maxim Vengerov in Moscow'.

Arguably the world's top classical violinist, the South Bank Show shows Maxim learning the electric jazz violin and also 'how to tango' (for a new concert piece).

The films are produced by Ken Howard for Landseer Films.

ME and MO

Umbrella Films for Al Jeezera

For Al Jazeera, the first of a new strand for UK office of this now famous broadcaster. This 6 x 25 min series was a biography of the life and work of the photo journalist and cameraman 'Mo' Amin, who came to notice with his Ethopian Famine coverage with Michael Buerk. Presented by his son Salim, the series was produced by Roger Mills responsible for all the Michael Palin travel series.

Independent production

An award winning 90 min documentary feature on Norman Foster's new city landmark for 'Swiss Re'. A film by Mirjam von Arx which has been shown in cinemas in Europe (in Dolby Surround) and also as a 52 min TV version on Sky.

BBC music for BBC4

6x 60 min African music documentaries for BBC 4's recent 'Africa Lives' series. Produced by the BBC music department under Mark Cooper.

SHAKING DREAMLAND

Eagle Films

I undertook the sound design and 5.1 mix on this 90 min drama shot on Hi- Def by noted American Cinematographer Robert Driskell.

Produced by Katrina Moss and directed by Martina Nagel, it features Philip Winchester, Cloudia Swann and Jesper Christensen. The writer was Ann Clifford.
