A new way of looking at Audio Post!

I come from a Broadcast TV background and am based at the centre of UK Film- Pinewood Studios.
I'm quite happy working on the full range of programmes in both film and TV.
Experience that comes from those years when broadcasting work covered a very wide range.

Nowadays however we need to consider ways to cope with diminished budgets across all these types of work.

Efficient use of the Internet

This is the best way to help
deliver the lowest price for a very high quality sound dub.

I can use fast FTP to receive your pictures (QuickTimes etc) and OMFI audio files and can return a 'review mix' for you to assess in your office or home.
After making any alterations I will either upload the completed Main and M&E mixes for you or layback directly to your DigiBeta/DVCam SR video master here.

So do please consider if you can work remotely like this.

If not I'm very happy to have you attend the sound work and particularly the Final Mix at Pinewood.

Well of course all indie movies are made on a low budget...often no budget!

Dialogue editing, sound fx tracklaying, ADR, foley and final mixing -all at low rates - just ask!

Factual TV is a great personal interest.
I do lots of short and long-form documentaries for production companies working for the BBC, Channel 4 and more recently co-productions with US Broadcasters like Discovery, National Geographic and Smithsonian.

SPECIALIST FEATURES

I often work for Parthenon Entertainment; big producers of feature programmes for abroad, particularly for US Broadcasters Discovery and Nat Geo.

Mostly in 5.1 surround and as many of the programmes are 'specialist wildlife', they often come with no original sounds apart from music and commentary. Lots of nice foley and soundf fx work on programmes like these!

Alas the South Bank Show has now gone; I enjoyed working on that over many years.
I mixed the TV OB and dubbed the South Bank's original 'Sweeney Todd' documentary that won an Emmy. Ah well!

Series like RDF's long running 'Scrapheap Challenge' for Channel 4, can keep a post production sound mixer
very busy...all those radio mics to sort out and picture cuts every second to add something to...
"now where is the 'whoosh' that goes with that shot!"

Mixes

These can be Stereo for SD TV or 5.1 Surround Sound for HD and film.
A full range of M&E Mixes and audio stems are also supplied.

All our mixes of course will be to your broadcasters tech specs (including those 'Discovery' ones)
and our laybacks will be guaranteed to pass their QC.

Postfade is equipped with the most advanced audio post production equipment currently available for single operation:

THE airlight DREAM II CONSTELLATION-XT

A fantastic combined 192 track mixer/editor which is capable of simultaneous mixes in 7.1/5.1 surround HD and stereo SD plus multiple 'audio stems'.

I think this is streets ahead of any Pro Tools based suite. Being superbly ergonomic in operation, it offers a built in hard-disc video for working pictures, sound fx search from a massive library and integral ADR and EDL auto-conforming.
There's easy commentary recording of course and multiple stems, M&E and Final mixing - all faster than any comparable equipment.

We produce sync, music, FX and commentary stems for each production and these can be to DA88 tapes or given as audiofiles.

Where's Postfade Sound and OutPost?

Pinewood Studios are between the M25, M4 and M40/A40 (near Denham)
at Iver Heath, Bucks. (SL0 0NH).

If driving out on the Westway/A40, exit at Denham on the A412 towards Slough, don't go onto
the M40.

Most people drive to the studios and there is ample parking.

Although there is a regular Pinewood shuttle bus running from the stations at Uxbridge
(District and Met) and Slough (British Rail), if you give us a call before hand we'll arrange
to pick you up from any of the local stations.

We are in the 'Props Building'.
Best ask for 'OutPost Facilities' though (rather than Postfade Sound) on arrival at Pinewood.
